About Me

My photo
Suzanne Ernst
Formally trained as a landscape architect, my explorations in photography are an attempt to expose the beauty in the ordinary, in the everyday surroundings and objects that are so often overlooked in our surrounding landscapes. Inspired by the writings of Charles Baudelaire on the flâneur, Richard Long’s walking journeys through the landscape, and the writings of Guy Debord, Andre Breton and the Situationists International, I wander the city and landscapes that I inhabit, using photography as a means of exploration and discovery. Experiencing and recording the landscape as it is altered with the passing of time over the course of the day and year allows for a continued rediscovery of place. Through my abstracted images, I hope to unveil the hidden complexities and infinite beauty that can be found within seemingly mundane objects, exposing the vibrant colours, intricate patterns and textures that surround us in the often overlooked landscapes of the everyday.
